VILLAGE vandals are in the sights of crime prevention bosses thanks to two new CCTV systems.
Car parks in the villages of Sabden and Chipping in the Ribble Valley have been installed with two £5,000 systems after a spate of anti-social behaviour and damage to vehicles.
Sabden councillor Ricky Newmark said: “The majority of young people behave responsibly but a minority are making a nuisance of themselves and in some cases vandalising vehicles.
“Not only do these incidents cause distress and inconvenience to vehicle owners, but they discourage villagers from using the car park, which creates congestion.”
“Thanks to these CCTV systems the police will be able to identify the culprits and take action.”
Chipping councillor Simon Hore added: “The new CCTV system will significantly improve the chances of identifying the culprits.
“This will restore confidence in villagers to use the car park.”
The schemes cost £5,472 and received funding from Lancashire’s police and crime commissioner.
