A WOMAN staying at a top hotel got a rude awakening of her own after setting off the fire alarm and waking her fellow guests.

Blackburn magistrates heard police were called because of the antics of Leah Elcock who had been smoking in her room and running around the corridor shouting and screaming.

By the time police arrived she was fast asleep and when police disturbed her she sprang out of bed wearing just her knickers and lashed out at a female officer.

Elcock, 23, of Rylance Street, Manchester, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and failing to surrender to bail. She was fined £105 with £55 costs and ordered to pay £100 compensation to the officer.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police went to the Stanley House Hotel in Mellor at 5.40am after staff reported a female causing a disturbance. They used a master key to enter her room and woke Elcock.

Graeme Parkinson, defending, Elcock accepted that when she was woken her behaviour ‘wasn’t the best’.
