ONE of the stars of this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ has hotfooted it to Mellor.
Lancashire ladies were joined by former MP, broadcaster and best-selling novelist Edwina Currie, at a Ladies who Lunch event in the Stanley House Hotel.
Ms Currie, who was paired with Vincent Simone on the first episode of the hit BBC show this weekend, entertained guests with anecdotes from her successful career and excerpts from her book, A Parliamentary Affair.
The event, which was attended by around 200 guests, raised more than £2,400 for local children’s charity, Miles of Smiles.
Ms Currie said: “Stanley House is a lovely venue – the staff were so helpful and the lunch was wonderful too.
“It was a pleasure to meet the Lancashire ‘Ladies who Lunch’ and help to raise funds for Miles of Smiles, with the Hotel providing the perfect backdrop for a super afternoon.”
The final Ladies who Lunch event of the year will take place at Stanley House Hotel on December 8.
