STAFF from a Mellor hotel are putting their best foot forward by competing in the National Waiters Day race.

Stanley House Hotel and Spa’s Stuart Aspin- Lammack, Patryk Guzowski, Louise Wood and Zandra Grimshaw, make up the four-strong team to race at Runshaw College’s Foxholes restaurant, Leyland, on Tuesday, June 18.

The event aims to raise awareness of National Waiters Day, which celebrates hospitality staff and inspires people to enter the industry.

The race invites waiters from restaurants, cafés and the hospitality sector to show off their professional skills by carrying a tray, bottle and glasses at pace, keeping them in place for the whole race.

The winning team will be the one which crosses the finishing line first with tray and contents still intact.

Stanley House’s general manager Philip Wharton said: “It’s a great opportunity for our staff members to be involved in something that aims to bring together their core skills.

“We are sure they will welcome the competition and return as champions.”
