TWO drivers crashed in the centre of Longridge and one of them was found to be nearly double the legal drink drive limit.

Blackburn magistrates heard Amanda Jane Appleby maintained she was not responsible for the collision.

Appleby, 43, of Lee Street, Longridge, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was fined £120 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 17 months.

Tracey Yates, prosecuting, said the other driver had driven her daughter into Longridge to catch the school bus at 8.25am.

“She was driving off a car park when she was hit by the car driven by the defendant,” said Mrs Yates. “The defendant got out of her car shouting and screaming.

“The next minute she was crying and said she didn’t want the police contacted.”

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had stayed at a friends house and she had drunk more wine than she should.
