WORK has begun on the second phase of a development at Petre Wood farm in Langho which will see 25 new homes built.

The two, three and four bedroom homes will be built on former commercial and industrial farmland between Whalley Road and the A59.

The first phase of the development was completed in 2009 and saw a mix of apartments and family homes constructed.

David Croft, a director of Croft Goode Architects, said: “The scheme has been designed following a detailed public consultation and the proposals have been well received by local residents.

“The style of the new homes and the materials used will complement the homes built in phase one of the development, as well as other existing homes in the local area.”

Matthew Harrison, chief executive of Great Places Housing Group, said: “We’re thrilled that the second phase of this sought-after scheme has been approved.

“We are well aware of the need for affordable housing in the Ribble Valley, particularly in Langho, and know these family homes will be much welcomed by the local community.”

The homes are expected to be completed in autumn 2014.
