A GLASS eye set in brass that follows visitors around the room is one of the new exhibits at the Platform Gallery at Clitheroe railway station.

The gallery’s new exhibition, Marvellous Mechanicals, features moving sculptures and robotics by artists Balint Bolygo, Jim Bond, Nik Ramage, Lisa Slater and Martin Smith.

The works include Jim Bond’s I See You, the mechanical glass eye, and Fingers, a replica of sculptor Nik Ramage’s hand, which impatiently drums its fingers.

Jim Bond will lead a free workshop at the gallery from 11am today, where participants will create a ‘marble run’ up to 20ft long featuring levers, tubes and giant dominoes.

Platform Gallery supervisor Helen Creswell said: “We are always on the lookout for new and exciting work, and this exhibition has been intriguing visitors at venues across the North.”

The gallery is open from Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4.30pm, and further details are available on 01200 425566.
