MORE than £1,000 has been raised with a charity fundraiser to help a stroke suffer and her husband.

Elizabeth Schinkel, from Burnley organised the event at the Bombay Lounge in Barrowford after meeting the husband of Heather Kent.

Mrs Kent, 35, lives in Clitheroe and suffered a stroke in November, just seven months after marrying husband Gary.

Earlier this year at Clitheroe Rugby Club he met Mrs Schinkel, from Burnley, who was inspired to raise money to help the couple.

The event raised £1,120 in total which will be used to help Heather with an electric wheelchair and other mobility aids.

Mrs Schinkel said: "Thank you to each and every one of you who supported this event, from the bottom of my heart.

"To everyone that came, to those who couldn't make it but donated, to those who bought raffle tickets and took part in our auction"

The mum-of-five will also be running 100 miles in four days along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal starting on September 1 to raise money and awareness.
