MOUNTAIN rescuers were on hand to help an injured runner while marshalling the Fiendsdale Fell Race on Saturday.
Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue went to the aid of the 47-year-old Clitheroe man who injured his leg on a descent towards one of the check points on the Bleasdale fells, north of Chipping.
Rescuers said a three-man response team splinted his leg and administered pain relief.
After strapping him into a stretcher, the injured runner went in a Land Rover and transferred him to a waiting ambulance.
He was then taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
