2 Ribble Valley pupils fall out of bus
2:00pm Wednesday 3rd November 2010 in Billington
TWO schoolboys were taken to hospital after they fell out of a double-decker bus window.
The boys, aged 12 and 13, and both pupils at St Augustine’s RC High School, Billington, were on the 637 bus, at 3.40pm yesterday, when the incident happened.
The pair were leaning against a window on the lower deck as the bus drove down Whalley Road, Clitheroe, close to the Villa restaurant, when it fell out and they tumbled four feet on to the road, police said.
Ambulances were called, but the boys were ‘walking wounded’, with cuts and bruises, police said.
St Augustine’s headteacher Anthony McNamara said the parents of the children were due to take them to hospital for a check-up.
The 637 service was run by Clitheroe-based Hodgsons Coaches.
Last night, a spokeswoman for the firm declined to comment, but said an investigation would be launched.
Police were also due to liaise with school bosses oevr the incident.
