A CHARITY night is to be held in memory of an East Lancashire climber who lost his life in a 600-foot fall in the Lake District.
Martin Peel, 35, from Billington, died while trying to make his way from Pillar Mountain to Pillar Rock, in Ennerdale, last March.
A prize bingo night will be held at Clitheroe Catholic Club, on Friday, June 14, in his memory. Supporters say all proceeds will be split between the Northwest Air Ambulance and Cockermouth Mountain Rescue, which were both involved in the attempted rescue of the father-of-two, and supermarket worker, after his fall.
Tickets for the bingo night, which are £5 and include supper, are available from Booth’s, in Clitheroe, where Mr Peel worked, and also from the town’s Boots store.
