Ribble Valley residents to register for watchdog elections
6:00pm Thursday 28th June 2012 in Ribble Valley news
RIBBLE Valley residents are being urged to register to vote in the forthcoming Lancashire police and crime commissioner elections.
The register of electors is currently being compiled and council canvassers are distributing electoral registration forms to the borough’s 24,780 homes.
The forms contain the names of people aged 18 and over in each household.
Householders are asked to check if the details on the form are accurate, sign it, seal it and return it to the council.
The election is on November 15 and the new police and crime commissioner will take up the post on November 22, with responsibility for governing Lancashire Constabulary and holding its Chief Constable to account.
Ribble Valley residents who have not received an electoral registration form should contact Ribble Valley Council on 01200 425111.

Voting is pointless,it makes no difference to any government decisions.

Why is the government wasting money on elected police commissioners? £100k a year salary plus an office and staff. Who wants this? The money should be being spent on frontline police officers, not pointless top down re-organisation.
