TALENTED musicians will be showcasing their talents at two festivals.

Blackburn with Darwen’s Big Band will be playing in this year’s Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues Festival and the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.

The Big Band was set up by Blackburn with Darwen Council’s music service in 2001 to encourage up and coming young players and the average age is 16.

The band plays a variety of styles of music and has a repertoire ranging from Van Morrison to Amy Winehouse, Herbie Hancock and Henry Mancini songs.

They will appear at the jazz festival on May 6 at the Grand Theatre, Clitheroe at 1.30pm as the festival this year switches its focus to home grown talent.

In August they will travel to Scotland to participate in one of the world’s biggest celebrations of youth arts.
