A HAIRDRESSER who went for a drink after work couldn't remember leaving the pub and driving home.

Blackburn magistrates heard Nareace Leeanne Testa crashed into a parked car and shunted it into the gates of a school.

And she told police she didn't remember leaving the pub or driving, just the air bag going off.

Testa, 39, of Nab Rise, Billington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £500 with £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 24 months. The court heard she gave a breathalyser reading of 91 compared to the legal limit of 35.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said police were called to a report of a collision outside Barrow primary school at 10.20 pm. He said Testa told police she had four large glasses of wine in Clitheroe but couldn't remember leaving the pub.

Damian Pickup, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, was a self-employed hairdresser who worked extremely hard.

"She had worked from 8 am to 6 pm on this day and didn't have time to eat," said Mr Pickup.

He said she had arranged to meet a friend for a drink after work and suddenly felt a bit down and the need to leave.

"She made the regrettable decision to drive home," said Mr Pickup. "To her credit she remained at the scene after crashing her car."
