THREE fire crews were called to a house fire in Clitheroe in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Two engines from Clitheroe, another from Great Harwood and an aerial platform from Hyndburn station were called to the incident on Whalley Road at 1.24am on February 21.

A spokesman for the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We reported to the incident where a person called about a fire.

“We did not know if anyone could still have been trapped in the detached property.

“But after further investigation no-one was there inside and there were no ideas as to how the fire had started.

“There were two hose reels used as well as the jets and water was being put on the fire from aerial platform to try to put it out.

“At 6.40am, we had reports that firefighters were still at the scene as they were dampening down some pockets of the fire still and they were also trying to find out the cause of it and where it took place. The good news was that no-one was hurt during the fire.”
