A FORMER church could be converted into a single home.

Sunderland Peacock Architects Surveyors has submitted plans to Ribble Valley Council to turn the former Ribchester Evangelical Church, on the south side of Blackburn Road, into one house.

The church, which is believed to have been constructed between 1893 and 1910, is no longer used and the applicants intend to convert the property for residential use.

In the planning statement, the applicant said the church serves no ‘particular purpose’ to the community.

If approved, the existing rear lean-to extension will be demolished and the existing roof structure will be reconfigured.

It is also located within the defined boundary of the Ribchester Conservation Area.

It will be determined by Ribble Valley Council’s planning and development committee at a future meeting.
