CAR parking machines across a borough will be upgraded to accept chip and pin payments.
More than £15,000 will be invested into upgrading three pay and display car parking machines in the Ribble Valley.
The scheme will be trialled at Edisford Road car park, Lowergate car park and Railway View car park in Clitheroe over the next two months
The upgrade will allow the machines to accept chip and pin payments for the first time in the borough's history.
If the trialled scheme is successful, upgrades could be extended to all of the chargeable machines in the council owned19 car parks.
Cllr Allan Knox, leader of the opposition, said: "I can't say I'm against it because we are all living in a cashless society.
"I think it will be better for people because I know a lot of machines do not give change."
