PLANS to build an arch at the entrance to Towneley Gardens has been given the green light.
Longridge Town Council submitted a planning application to Ribble Valley Council to erect a new stone arch.
Cllr Stuart Carefoot, who lives in Longridge, said: “The council’s aim is to replace the iron railings on the stone wall and build a similar stone arch.
“The work was doable because of funding support from Tesco supermarket.
“They provided the council with a grant to use the money to tidy up an area of Longridge.
“Longridge Council agreed to match the fund.”
The start date for works has yet to be set.
