A BUDDING singer from the Ribble Valley is enjoying a 'whirlwind' ride after getting through to the next round of The Voice.

Hayley Eccles, from Old Langho, made it through to the next round of the ITV singing competition with her rendition of Paloma Faith's 'Upside Down' after judge Will.I.Am turned around his chair to choose her for his team of acts.

However the 22-year-old has since been back at the Black Bull pub where she sings and works part-time as she copes with the aftermath of her performance.

Miss Eccles said: "It's all been a bit of a whirlwind since it was aired, but it is really exciting.

"I've not really got many gigs lined up at the moment, I'm so busy with everything from The Voice, but it's nice to come back here.

"It's just mental, I've had so many comments on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and it's all just been really positive."

Miss Eccles has been singing since the age of five and performing at gigs since she was 15-years-old.

Her music career was influenced by her father Geno, who also appeared on The Voice.

Although Mr Eccles didn't make it through with his version of 'You Are So Beautiful', it has only made his daughter more determined with her goal.

The pair performed at the Old Langho Road pub on Saturday night with her father, and the duo sing around three times a month at the venue.

Mr Eccles, 54, is a manager at an independent music label called Triangle House Records and he turned down a record deal in a funk soul band more than 30 years ago as his first daughter had just been born.

While she has four sisters who are also 'great singers' it is just Hayley who wants to follow in her fathers footsteps and pursue it as a career.

She said: "It was heartbreaking to see him not get through, there was a few tears but that has made me more determined.

"I always looked up to him growing up.

"I've been wanting to get out there and sing for a long time.

"Hopefully I'll be able to carry on with The Voice and get further and further and get that recording deal.

"I want to travel the world and get my music absolutely everywhere."

Miss Eccles will next compete in the 'battle stages' of the competition which will be aired at the start of March.
