A MUM has been left distraught after thieves broke into her home, taking her laptop computer and leaving a hammer in her daughter’s bedroom.

Graphic designer Deanna Spurr, 46, said the computer contained valuable work and customers' details and she has been left with no way to make a living.

The burglary is believed to have taken place at around 9.30pm on Friday at the address in Hayhurst Street, Clitheroe.

A neighbour’s CCTV captured two boys carrying away stolen goods. A games console and money are also believed to have been taken.

Ms Spurr was on her first night out in eight months, after undergoing hospital treatment, when the incident occurred.

She said: “I came home at midnight and the house was ransacked. I am prepared to offer a reward if someone gets the iMac back to me.

“I cannot work. It has got everything on it. This is my livelihood. It was 16 years of work and tens of thousands of pounds' worth of graphics. I did not have it backed up on a disc drive.”

Her daughter was away on a sleepover when the burglary took place but has had trouble sleeping since the incident and fears she will meet the raiders when out and about.

Ms Spurr said: “The hammer is mine but they have taken it into her bedroom. What they were going to do with it I do not know.

“This could have been so much worse if my daughter had been home alone. It does not bear thinking about.

“I am so angry. I do not know how they got in. I have now changed all the locks.”
