AN ENTERTAINMENT venue in Clitheroe is set to stage a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of flooding in Ribble Valley.

Keystreet in Clitheroe is to stage the family fundraiser on Sunday January 10 from 3pm onwards.

Manager, Beverley Knight, 48, was inspired to organise the event after several people she knew, including her cousin, were affected by the flooding.

Mrs Knight, a grandma of one, said: "It happened just down the road. I thought how would I feel if that was me. A lot of people have lost everything.

"We've got the perfect venue and I am married to a musician.

"One of the band who is performing Zander Sumner - his sister has been affected and she lives in Whalley and I said to him let's do something for these people."

Since then they have been contacted by dozens of people offering to help and backing their concert plans she added.

The free event will include music from performers including The Slatts & Zander Band, duo Xanthe Zimmer, and Mark Duckworth.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including hairdresser and meals vouchers.

There will be free tea, coffee and also pizza and cupcakes available during the day.

People will be invited to donate through collection buckets on the door.

Cllr June Brown, vice-chairman of Whalley Parish Council, who witnessed the flood devastation first hand, said: "I think anything that's being done for the people that have had to go through this disaster is wonderful. I really do think it has brought out the best in people. I am sure it will help because the clean up is going to be very costly."

To make donations for the raffle or for more information ring Keystreet on 01200 422588.
