POLICE who attended an accident at Portfield Bar, Whalley, found that two sets of traffic lights had been destroyed, a car was embedded in one of them and the driver was bleeding from the nose. Magistrates heard Sean Porter was taken to hospital but two hours after the accident gave a breathalyser reading more than double the legal reading. Porter, 32, of Tunstall Drive, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £270, banned from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay £150 criminal court charge, £85 costs and £27 victim surcharge. Porter said he did not know what had happened.
