A CLITHEROE antiques expert will be appearing on BBC1 next week battling to prove he’s one of the top dealers in the UK.

With his gold teeth, large Afro and distinctive dress sense, Danny Sebastian will be making his mark on the TV show Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is all week.

Fans will see him pitting his wits against southern auctioneer James Braxton as he travels from a car boot sale in Sussex to an antiques fair in Paris in search of bargains.

In his day job Danny, 49, whose family is originally from the Dominican Republic, sources items for clients and also helps fit out shops for big brand names including Tommy Hilfiger, Fat Face and All Saints. He’s no TV novice either having appeared on Wheelers, Dealers and Del Boys, but it will be his first appearance on Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, which airs at 4.30pm every weekday.

The father-of-three says Clitheroe auction house Silverwoods is one of his favourite local places to bag a bargain.

“It beats those southern and so-called posh places hands down both for service and fun!” he said.

He’s also got a tip for Lancashire Telegraph readers, saying that Steam Punk and industrial artefacts are particularly big at the moment with his private customers in the south of England.

Born in Northampton, Danny has been very open about how his father’s death in a fire when he was a teenager made him go “off the rails” leading to a four-year prison sentence for robbery and violence.

When he left prison he worked in warehouses to buy a van and started buying, selling and acquiring his knowledge of antiques and collectibles. “I love it. It’s my passion,” he added.

When he’s not on TV he can often be seen in the Ribble Valley in his Afro-Junk van, which sports the slogan ‘specialists in the nicer things in life’.
