A WOMAN who lost three ‘sentimental’ rings while on a day out in the Ribble Valley is appealing for their return.

Shirley Greenwood-Dawson was on a coach trip with the Darwen group Residents of Sunnyhurst Association last Saturday when her wedding ring, engagement ring and eternity ring went missing.

The 51-year-old believes she took the rings off in a pub to wash her hands and forgot to pick them up again.

She said: “I’m a health visitor for the NHS and we’re not allowed to wear rings like these, so I’m used to not having them on.

“My husband had also recently had them cleaned so I’ve been taking them off when I wash my hands to make sure I didn’t get any soap on them.

“We went to a few different pubs in the Ribble Valley, but having looked at pictures I’m pretty sure it was in Waddington that I’ve done it. I obviously put them on a sink to wash my hands but then forgot to pick them up.”

It wasn’t until Shirley got back to Darwen that she realised her rings were missing.

“I rang the pubs that night but the rings hadn’t been handed in and weren’t still there,” she said. “I’ve been back to Waddington and made posters with pictures of the rings.

“I’m desperate to get them back, they are precious and sentimental to me. The wedding ring is about nine years old but my husband had it made especially for me, so it means a lot.”

During the day Shirley and her group, including husband Derek, visited the Aspinall Arms in Mitton, The Inn at Whitewell, the Parkers Arms and then the Waddington Arms and the Lower Buck.
