MORE than 220 people signed up take part in a hospice pub walk in the Ribble Valley.

Teams and individuals set off from the Foxfields Hotel in Billington on Saturday, June 6 to complete the five, 10 or 15 mile route to Hurst Green via Mitton in aid of East Lancashire Hospice with the support of the Rotary Club of Ribblesdale.

Walkers were treated to views of the area's most beautiful countryside with parts of the walk snaking by the Rivers Calder and Hodder.

The charity expect around £10,000 from the event to care for patients and their families across East Lancashire including the Ribble Valley.

Fundraising Manager Sharon Crymble said: “All the walkers were in such good spirits as they set off and were still smiling after they reached the half way point.

"We’re very grateful to t-shirt sponsors Hanson Cement, The Foxfields Hotel and all our participating pubs.

"A huge thank you to all our walkers for making this a brilliant day out whilst raising funds to help make a difference at the same time."

The next hospice event is the Raring to Glow run, jog, walk on Saturday, July 4.
