WHALLEY Abbey is seeking volunteers to help out during the summer season and beyond.

The abbey now has a new ticket office and volunteer base and has recently re-vamped its tour leaflets.

A new updated guidebook is also planned ahead of the summer holidays.

Manager Christine Nelson said: "Recent publicity has resulted in several new volunteers, but we are always looking for more people to get involved.

"We are very keen to hear from people who want to welcome visitors and perhaps become tour guides.

"The abbey depends on the goodwill of local people to help us enhance the visitor experience.

"Even just giving a couple of hours a week would be really helpful."

The presentation will look at the history of the Abbey and will include a tour of the medieval ruins.

Volunteers will be provided with all the information they need to give visitors a potted history of the Abbey.
