A NEW bar and restaurant could be set to open it’s doors in Whalley this summer as the latest addition to the village’s night-time economy.

Permission is being sought from Ribble Valley Borough Council to open Forum which will employ between 18 and 20 people.

Owner Marvin Baldwin, who set up his first restaurant in Preston 10 years ago, said the new venue would bring something new to the village’s night-time scene.

If the council approve the change of use plan and the licensing agreement the restaurant will be based in an ex-furniture store in King Street.

Up to £200,000 has been earmarked to convert the building into a restaurant and bar which will seat around 80 people.

Mr Baldwin, who is originally from Mellor, said: “Whalley does not have anything like what we are going to offer and it will help improve the night-time economy .”

The owners are also bidding to supply alcohol up to 1am from Sundays to Thursdays and to 2am on Friday and Saturdays.

Any residents who want to make representations regarding this application can give notice in writing to: The Administration and Licensing Officer, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Council Offices, Church Walk, Clitheroe, Lancashire BB7 2RA.

Representations must be received no later than Tuesday, June 2.
