RIBBLE Valley’s controversial scream park is back for its sixth year promising a scarier-than-ever experience.

The Hallowe’en horror event at Hawkshaw Farm Park, Clayton-le-Dale, opens on October 22 and promises ‘a fear-filled slate of attr-actions for fearless families, thrill-seeking adrenaline junkies and courageous kids.’

Last year organisers of the ‘Scare Kingdom Scream Park’ off the A59 had to defend its special over-18s section called ‘Psycho-manteum’, where visitors were velcro-strapped to a bed and had a sex toy waved in their face.

The Rape Crisis charity called it ‘degrading and humiliating’, preying on a woman’s ‘deepest vulnerability and fear’.

But organisers said it was ‘consensual’ and was ‘ridiculous’ to suggest it was to do with rape.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The project is the brainchild of Jason Karl, who has worked on TV’s ‘Most Haunted’ and ‘Haunted Halloween Live’.

He first teamed up with the farm’s owners, Eric and Amanda Dowson of Mrs. Dowson's Ice Cream, to create the attraction in 2009.

Since then, it has annually got more frightening and Mr Karl is pledging this year will ramp up the fear factor.

Last year, despite the controversy, the event was voted UK Top Rated Scream Park in 2013.

This year offers visitors ‘a unique and seriously twisted journey combining live scareactors, special effects and heart-pumping thrills, across six all-new scare attractions’.

Mr Karl said: “The content of the attractions is unusual and what some people may even consider taboo, but we've had no complaints.

“Visitors to our attraction love it and this year we've gone bigger and better than ever.

“It's a scare experience designed to make the guest feel uncomfortable, and everybody who enters reads terms and conditions and is given a safe word should they wish to escape.

“We've spent the last six months making sure 2014 is our scariest year yet!"
