Visitors to Clitheroe Castle can take a fascinating journey through Viking history later this month.

On Thursday, August 29, visitors will learn about the journey of wool from the sheep to the sail of the great Viking longships; make rope and braid the Viking way; try their hand on the embroidery table and ready the dye for the ‘hand over fist’ creation of a coin to take home.

The sessions are suitable for adults, children and families. They are taking place between 10.30am and 4pm in the museum’s education suite.

The very popular Viking Threads session will be lead by Viking storyteller Linden the Skald and coin striker Sonje.

The ‘Sheep to Ship’ event is just one part of the Viking Voyage at Clitheroe Castle Museum from Friday until September 4.
