Rossendale MP backs cut to windfarm subsidies

GOVERNMENT subsidies to onshore wind farm schemes are right to be cut, according to Rossendale’s MP.

Jake Berry said he welcomed the announcement by Energy Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Lord Marland that the 10 per cent subsidy cuts would be guaranteed until at least March 2014.

Peel Energy, the owners of Valley wind farm Scout Moor, the largest of its kind in England, has plans to double its size.

Mr Berry has expressed fears Rossendale was in danger of becoming he ‘wind farm capital of the country’.

The subsidy cuts should have been larger, as George Osborne previously indicated. These subsidies have to be paid for through our electricity bills. And will we ever build enough to make a dent in our power requirements?
“ "At one point last week, Britain’s 3,500 turbines were contributing 12 megawatts (MW) to the 38,000MW of electricity we were using. (The Neta website, which carries official electricity statistics, registered this as “0.0 per cent). "” Christopher Booker Sunday Telegraph 12/8/12.
And that’s before you start looking at the 'interests' of the likes of Tim Yeo MP et al, all doing very nicely out of the wind consultancies.
It's the poor mugs using the power who are being driven into fuel poverty by this crazy ideology.
Will someone please tell the emperor he has no clothes on, before we all go down the pan.
