PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed another fall in unemployment in the area.

New unemployment figures for November 2017 were published recently by the Office for National Statistics.

The number of unemployed claimants in Pendle in November 2017 was 1,085. This represents a rate of 2.7 per cent of the economically active population aged 16 to 64. The number of claimants is 30 lower than in October 2017.

Andrew Stephenson MP said “It’s great to see another fall in unemployment in Pendle and a record number of vacancies advertised.

"Under the current government we have seen over 1000 jobs a day created since 2010 and unemployment is now at its lowest level in over four decades.

"In the last year alone, over a quarter of million more people have the security of a job and a regular pay packet. We’ve come a long way in the last seven years, but there is more work still to be done.”
