JAKE Berry, MP for Rossendale, has called for the chief executive of Tesco to explain why petrol prices are so expensive in the Valley, compared to nearby Bury, Burnley and Accrington.
Following the success of last year’s campaign, Mr Berry has written to Philip Clark, the firm’s group chief executive, and asked that he meet with him to explain how Tesco can justify charging inflated prices.
Mr Berry said: “It’s scandalous that Tesco can get away with ripping us off here in Rossendale.
“I will be interested to hear what the group chief executive has to say for himself.
“I for one will be doing my best to boycott Tesco’s petrol pumps until prices are brought back in line.”
Mr Berry works with the all party parliamentary group meeting for fair fuel prices.
