AN appeal has been renewed to catch heartless thieves who stole planters from a village war memorial.
Raiders targeted the cenotaph in Trawden, at the corner of Keighley Road and Skipton Road, on Armed Forces Day, at the end of May.
Keen horticulturalists are being enlisted to see if the four tubs, worth hundreds of pounds, have ended up in the wrong hands.
A spokesman for Trawden Garden Festival, responsible for tending the planters, said: “The flowers were lovingly planted and show how much we value the bravery of those commemorated here.
“The theft of the planters shows contempt for the residents of Trawden and to the men who lost their lives in battle. We would be grateful for any information that would lead to the arrest of these cowardly thieves.”
The planters were donated by B&Q and are featured on the front of the 2009 calendar for Trawden.
