THE POST Office in Trawden is set to open longer in the day, it has been announced.
The Trawden Forest branch is the latest to undergo changes to its operations as part of plans to modernise the Post Office service.
From December 3, customers of the Trawden Forest branch will benefit from longer opening hours available seven days a week.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: “This is great news for residents in Trawden who will benefit from the extra five and a half hours a day opening times and being able to use their post office outside of normal working hours.
“Between 1997 and 2010, Pendle lost 17 post offices and 5,000 were lost across the country.
“It is a testimony to the decisive action taken by the current government that the post office network is being invested in and the provision of services expanded.
“People really value their local Post Offices and I will continue to do all I can to ensure services are improved and we are never again subjected to the rounds of closures imposed by the previous government.”
