Plan to double Reedley Marina set for approval

PLANS to almost double the capacity of Reedley Marina are set to be approved by councillors next week.

Bosses at the attraction unveiled plans for a new 76-berth marina on land next to the current 90-berth side of the Leeds-Liverpool canal last year.

They said that the existing site, opened in 2008, had been such a big success story that they now wanted to expand.

A report from planning officers at Burnley Council have recomm-ended the scheme should be approved at Thursday’s meeting of the development control committee.

More than 40 new car parking spaces would also be added, as well as two new buildings, of 220 and 54 square metres.

A statement by Reedley Marina’s planning agent, Blacko-based Crosby and Co, said: “This follows the success of the existing marina and increased demand for moorings from visitors to the area.”
