A 33 year old woman swung a cricket bat at a police officer who had forced entry to her home because of fears for her safety.
Blackburn magistrates heard Aminah Ali was then 'tasered' as she raised the bat above her head to take another shot at the officer.
Ali, of Railway Street, Nelson, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty.
She was fined £80 with £85 costs and £0 victim surcharge.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said officers responded to a report that Ali had threatened to harm herself. After forcing entry the officer walked towards Ali who was half way down the stairs.
"She swung a large cricket bat at the officer, narrowly missing his head," said Mr Robinson.
Scott Parker, defending, said the police had been contacted by the defendant's partner who was concerned for her welfare.
"They broke the door down after announcing they were police officers and she wouldn't let them in," said Mr Parker. He said Ali was working towards a degree in forensic science and had some knowledge of the law.
"She understands that the threat of violence constitutes an assault and she apologises," said Mr Parker.
