CHILDREN's dance teachers and parents partnered up for a strictly come dancing themed dance competition.

Around 300 dancers took part in the first ever Sanderson Strictly themed event at Sandersons Dance, on Churchill Way, Nelson.

One of the school's former pupils was a Strictly Come Dancing finalist, Natalie Gumede and this year's competition marked the grand finale of the Sanderson Dance awards event where dancers came to receive medals and trophies following their dance exams.

Performing on the Muni’s polished dance floor, dance pro’s, including four former British champions in the Sanderson family, paired up with complete beginners for the competition.

Jackie Sanderson, who marked 40 years of Sanderson Dance last year, said: “We’re all inspired by the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and thought, why not have our own take on the show here in Pendle?

“We asked parents who bring their children to classes to get out on the dance floor – and we we’re amazed at the response.

“Our dance teachers choreographed some incredible routines.

“There was a medley of dance styles from hip hop to jive, paso doble to cha cha with some daring acrobatics which had us on the edge of our seats.

"Although it was designed as a bit of fun, competition was fierce to be top of the leader board."

The Sanderson Strictly winners were Hollie McFadden from Bury and her dance partner Andrew Krupinksi from Burnley who danced a fusion of cheer, classical sequence, latin and ballroom.

Andrew, aka Pinky, is floor manager at Opus Pro Audio in Burnley and is dad to Chloe, Josh and Amy who all do street dance and Cheer at Sandersons in Burnley.
