A 35-YEAR-OLD woman went round to her ex-partner's home hoping to sort out difficulties between him and her new partner.

Blackburn magistrates heard the visit put Rebecca Kearsley in breach of a restraining order.

And District Judge James Clarke told Kearsley she was close to going to prison.

"You have an appalling record of failing to comply with court orders but if you breach this one you can expect to go to prison," he said.

Kearsley, 35, of Milton Street, Nelson, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order by banging on the door of a house in Kendal Street, Nelson, and shouting through the letterbox at Kirstie Carney. She was sentenced to six weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said there had been threats towards Kearsley's partner by Mr Carney, her ex-partner.

"She went round to try and stop the threats towards her partner," said Mr Taylor.
