A WEDDING filmmaker inspired by his ‘love of story telling’ has seen his company nominated for a pair of national awards.

Amor Media Productions, formed in Nelson, has been shortlisted for ‘Wedding Videography Company of the Year’ at the first National British Asian Wedding awards in London on Monday, March 6.

The company has also been shortlisted for the ‘Filmmaker of the Year’ category at the Asian Wedding Experience Awards ceremony in Manchester on Monday March, 27.

The business was set up by Mujahaid Bin Jamshaid at his home in Nelson in 2009 with the help of a £2,000 Pendle Business Support Grant.

Mr Jamshaid was previously an investment banker but was inspired to change career because of a love of ‘storytelling’.

He said: “It all just started with me in an office at home.

“I did not know anything about film making, I never studied, just through my love for story telling I successfully have grown the brand to an international level.

“We do videos for all sorts of weddings all over the world, we’ve been to places like Dubai, it’s a dream.”

The company has been listed as one of five finalist in its category at the National British Asian Weddings awards after more than 500 businesses who applied for the award.

Its latest wedding video has more then one million views on YouTube.

The business has expanded to have offices in Manchester, London and Dubai, although still maintains an office in Nelson at the Ace Centre in Cross Street and employs around 40 members of freelance staff.

The 31-year-old Mr Jamshaid originally qualified as an investment banker after graduating from the University of Manchester with a first class degree in economics.

He then worked for HSBC before he left the job in 2009 to become a filmmaker.

As well as weddings, the company has also carried out filming work for television adverts.

However it is its wedding work which has seen it nominated for awards, and creative director Mr Jamshaid is pleased to be receiving recognition.

He said:”It’s a massive accolade to be competing on a national scale.

“People have been so great to us, I wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without the help of people from the area.

“Hopefully our work will inspire more people to just follow their hearts and dreams."
