FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house fire in Nelson.
Two crews from the town visited Waidshouse Road at 12.45pm after receiving reports the first floor of a house had caught fire.
A fire service spokesman said the fire had started in a bedroom upstairs and a lot of household items were damaged by smoke and heat.

The spokesman said: "The whole first floor was mildly damaged from smoke, but it had not spread to downstairs or to neighbouring properties.
"A portable fan was used to extract the smoke and heat to help bring the incident under control.
"Although there were no smoke alarms in the building to give an early warning, the occupants were out of the building in time.
"No one suffered any serious injuries and no one was taken to hospital.
"It is important to have fire alarms as despite no one getting hurt this time, it could have easily been different.
"The cause of the fire is not known and an investigation has been made to find out how it started."
