THE son of Nelson-born Antiques Roadshow expert Eric Knowles has died following a road collision.

Seb Knowles, 26, who was a renowned DJ, was fatally injured after an incident on the M40 in Buckinghamshire in the early hours Friday after his Mercedes collided with a lorry near Beaconsfield.

His 62-year-old father, has retained strong links with his home area, including hosting BBC shows from Towneley Hall in Burnley.

He agent said he had cancelled a weekend appearance on the Isle of Wight due to a “close family bereavement”.

Seb Knowles had worked as a DJ since he was 14 and used the name Sparky B.

He played at London night spots and had collaborated with musicians such as The Artful Dodger.

He inherited his love of music from his father, who also used to DJ, his specialities being Motown and northern soul.

Seb was also a a fan of Wycombe Wanderers and the club had a minute’s applause in tribute at Sixfields Stadium before their game at the weekend.

A club statement, said: “Last night the Chairboys family lost a brother with the tragic death of 26-year-old fan Seb Knowles. Rest in peace.”

Before the game, the club tweeted: “Blues fans observe a moving minute’s applause for Seb Knowles, who died yesterday. You’ll be missed.”

Thames Valley police said a man had died after a collision near junction 1A and appealed for witnesses.

The National Association of Disc Jockeys posted on Facebook: “All of us would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Seb Knowles (DJ Sparky B) who tragically died earlier today.

“It’s always a tragedy someone is taken so young. He was a talented DJ who will be missed by all who knew him.”

Eric Knowles, who was a guest speaker at the 2010 Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards, was due to attend an event in Ventnor at the Isle of Arts Festival.

As well sitting as an expert on the Antiques Roadshow, he also worked on BBC2’s Antiques Master which was filmed in Burnley.

The Knowles family said they would not be making a public tribute at the moment.
