FLASHBACK: Riders take to the road in last year's festival race
TWO top cyclists will help launch a range of cycling events in the approach to Pendle's annual bike festival.
Top local riders Ian Wilkinson and Paul Oldham, who have both represented Great Britain, will help launch the Cycle Fest tomorrow.
The highlights of the festival are the Colne Grand Prix, an important part of the British Cycling Elite National Circuit Series, on Wednesday, July 16, and the Tour of Pendle on Sunday, August 10, the final event of the British Cycling Premier Calendar series.
Freedom Rides will take place throughout the summer following mainly quiet, traffic free routes, lead by an experienced guide, with a free ice cream for children.
More experienced cyclists can tackle the Pendle Pedal, a challenging 160km ride through Pendle, the Ribble Valley, and Lune Valley, with climbs over the Bowland Fells and Nick O'Pendle.
Pendle Council's Brian Cookson, who is also the president of British Cycling, said: "Our Cycle Fest is always extremely popular, with more than 4,000 people turning out to watch the Colne Grand Prix.

"This is a great way to bring tourists into Pendle and encourage everyone to get on their bikes and enjoy the fresh air and countryside.
"There is something here for the whole family - from children right up to experienced and professional riders."
