Two-car crash in Earby

A two-vehicle crash brought traffic in Earby to a standstill this afternoon.

Police said a Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Zafira crashed on Colne Road near the junction of Rostle Top Road at 12.50pm today.

The roof of the Ford Fiesta had to be cut off using an extraction device and one occupant was put on a spinal board as a precaution.

The road was closed for several hours in both directions.

Try living there and see how fast some morons drive through the town.

Especially the lorries on the stretch near the All Saints Church where there is no footpath. Wagons rattle at high speeds thorugh there, which considering (especially in this weather) it is the best route for those walking to get to the Punchbowl.

In my opinion I find it staggering that "certain" councillors have not made sure there is a footpath there and that wagons are made to by-pass the village, either by the "main" A59 or heading for the motorway network via Bradford, York or somewhere near from where they set off (especially given that "they" are very good at making "other" things by-pass Earby and head to Barnoldswick!!!).

I regularly flash at drivers (with my car headlights, before any smart-alec makes a seedy comment) when I am behind people who potter through the 60 zone (national speed limit on a single lane carriage way) yet belt through Earby at the same speed or more when they hit the 30 limit near the punchbowl.

This road needs "Whipping" into shape and something done about wagons, speeders and footpaths (with decent lighting!
