A RECUMBENT bicycle with a hand-made cover attached to its rear was pulled over by police after causing traffic delays on a road.

The bicycle, was found by PC Nigel Keates and PCSO Mark Hyde on the A56 heading towards Earby at around 4.30pm, yesterday.

PC Keates said the bicycle had been travelling at a very slow pace, which at times was not picked up by the speedometer.

He said: "We pulled the man over and cautioned him about the bicycle's condition on the road.

"We saw him at dusk and could see him, however there was no lights on the bike and in the dark it would have been very difficult.

"His right hand side wheel was also considerably wobbly.

"There were lots and lots of cars behind him and he was causing quite the queue.

"When we pulled him over there was a lot of drivers behind us, they just kept on coming.

"He did not do anything illegal, however he was putting himself in a position of potentially causing an incident."
