COUNCILLORS look set to approve proposals for a fair to return as part of the annual rhythm and blues festival in Colne.

Last year sideshows were allowed on the Red Lion car park, as part of the extended festival programme.

Back in 2004 there was a conscious effort by organisers to curtail extra-curricular activities, in relation to the August bank holiday event.

But traders complained that the festival had become stagnant' and only centred on part of the town, so the fair was introduced.

Police have not reported any problems, as a result of the 2007 fair, and members of Pendle Council's Colne area committee are being asked to approve its return this year.

Johnny, Colne says...

Whilst the festival was getting stagnant I have heard that the fare operates at a loss...

If this is true then this is wasted money and another reason why council tax is soaring.

If anyone knows whether that is true or not please correct me.
