BUS operator TRANSDEV is asking staff at a fast-growing fashion retailer to use online investment too cut their commuting fares.

Its Burnley Bus Company has linked up with boohoo.com in Burnley to crowdfund two new VAMOOZ home-to-work services.

As more people sign up to use them, the cost of their regular ticket will fall thanks to the unique way the system works.

Heasandford online retailer boohoo.com is growing rapidly and a new warehouse is expected to see its workforce grow to 2,600.

The new buses – V1 from Padiham and Burnley and V3 from Colne and Nelson – will start today.

They run seven days a week to and from the Widow Hill Road complex with timetables tailored around boohoo shifts.

The new services will be open for other travellers.

Mike Suban, head of HR at boohoo.com, said: “Boohoo are already one of the largest employers in the Burnley area.

"We have developed a Travel Plan which aims to encourage travel by more sustainable modes of transport.

"Partnering with VAMOOZ to create new bus services that will provide cost-effective travel for colleagues makes perfect sense to help facilitate the sustainable development of our Burnley Centre”.

Regular users buying monthly tickets on the VAMOOZ app will be able to use their them on Transdev's Mainline and Burnley Bus Company services.
