THE 14th Pendle Beer Festival will be opens to the public today.

The event will take place at The Muni in Colne from 4.30pm until 11pm today and will continue from 11.30am until 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

This year's "North vs South" theme means many local, regional and national award-winning beers will be showcased from across the country at the East Lancashire event.

In total more than 100 real ales and ciders will be available to sample for guests on the day.

Last year more than 2,300 people attended while CAMRA volunteers were also on hand to ensure proceedings ran smoothly.

As well as the usual range of real ciders and perries, bottled beers, and for the first time a selection of keykeg brews will be available at the festival.

Entry costs £3.00 all day today, while tomorrow entry is £3 before 6pm and £5 after.

On Saturday entry is £3 before 7pm and free after that time.

CAMRA members are entitled to free entry at all times on production of a valid membership card.

A spokesman for the event said: "We will be bringing you the very best real ales from across the country.

"Locals and visitors alike will be pleased to know Pendle Leisure Trust have made The Muni Theatre in Colne available once more, and we intend to ensure that everyone who comes enjoys the event and supports the Pendleside Hospice fund-raising events we have planned."
