A MAN is set to stand trial over allegations of rape and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
William Alderson, 37, of Allendale Street, Colne, appeared before Judge Beverley Lunt at Burnley Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and one of wounding with intent.
The court heard how both allegations of rape are said to involve the same woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
They are said to have taken place in Pendle on September 27 of this year.
Alderson is also alleged to have to wounded Richard Lyall with intent to do his grievous bodily harm. That offence is said to have taken place in Colne on September 27 of this year.
Alderson spoke only to confirm his name and enter his not guilty pleas.
Judge Lunt set a trial date for March 19, next year, where the case will be heard before a jury at Preston Crown Court.
Alderson was remanded into custody until his trial date.
