FIREWORKS are set to light up the skies this weekend as revellers gear up to celebrate bonfire night.

Annual bonfire and firework displays will be held in Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington, Clitheroe, Darwen, Haslingden, Colne and Padiham.

A big community bonfire and firework display will be held at Towneley Park, Burnley on Saturday.

The fun fair will open at 6pm, followed by the lighting of the bonfire at 6.45pm, fireworks displays from 7.15pm with the event closing at 9pm.

Tickets will be available from St Peter’s and Padiham leisure centres, the Mechanics Theatre, Prairie Sports Village and Towneley Hall.

Prices are the same as last year, £3 for single standard tickets and £9 for four tickets.

The Darwen mayor’s annual charity bonfire will be held at the Darwen Cricket Club, on Leven Grove, this Saturday from 6.30pm.

Guests will be able to indulge in drinks from indoor and outdoor bars and food from a BBQ and ice cream van.

The fire will be lit at 6.30pm with the fireworks display starting from 7.30pm. Admission for the event is by donation on the day.

The annual Blackburn charity bonfire night and firework display will take place at Witton Country Park, Blackburn on Saturday from 5pm to 9pm.

There will be a fairground and live roadshow to keep guests entertained.

Tickets cost £2 for adults, £1 for children and £5 for families.

The Clitheroe bonfire and fireworks display will be held again at Clitheroe castle grounds from 5.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday.

Haslingden Cricket Club will host its annual bonfire night on Saturday from 4.30pm.

Gates will open at 4.30pm for fairground access and the fireworks display starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £4 for adults, £2 for children and families of four for £10.

In Pendle, Colne Cricket Club will hold theirs on Sunday from 4pm.

Entrance is priced at £2.50 for adults, £1 for children & family entry is available for £5.

Other big events this weekend will include the second ever Blackburn Comic Con, which will be held at King George’s Hall on Saturday from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Colin Baker, the sixth Doctor Who, will be a guest star alongside Jeremy Bulloch, who played the bounty hunter Boba Fett in the Star Wars franchise.

Tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £4 for children.

In Whalley, a remembrance service will be held at Calderstone for people who fell in the First World War that were connected with the national health service.

It will take place from 10am this Saturday.
