COLNE's jobcentre is set to close in a fortnight.

The Market Street site will shut its doors on Friday, August 11.

Staff will be moved to the Nelson's Netherfield Road office.

A Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service (BPRCVS) spokesman said its services would also be moved to Nelson from Monday, August 14.

He said: "We will of course continue to work collaboratively to make any transition for our partners, colleagues and people using our services as smooth as possible.

"If you currently deliver services from Colne Jobcentre we will try to accommodate your needs, where this is possible, at Nelson Jobcentre."

Darwen's Green Street jobcentre will also be closed with 14 members of staff relocated to Blackburn.

Staff from Accrington Melbourne House are set to be relocated to The Burnley Pensions Centre in Simonstone.

A spokesman for the DWP said there will be no job losses as a result of the moves in East Lancashire.

Across the country 68 jobcentres will merge, four centres will move to new sites and 40 will co-locate with local authorities or other community services.
